Umidigi just added to their list of power series smartphone, Umidigi Power 3 with a camera design that resembles that of Samsung A51, A71 and the S20. The L-shaped cameras are 4 in numbers, with a front camera located in a punch-hole which makes the device the first Umidigi smartphone with a punch-hole display.
Umidigi Power 3 is a mid-range device, meaning it comes cheap but not very cheap. It comes packing some quite cool features that might interest you or prompt you into making a buy decision if what you are looking for is a camera device with good battery life, good display, and up to the task daily driver smartphone, and I think the Umidigi Power 3 is what you need. Let us get to the Umidigi Power 3 review
Umidigi Power 3 design
Umidigi Power 3 is a clean looking device with an Aluminum alloy body design and a 2.5D curved screen to make it look more attractive a glance, the device is designed in three body colors; Classic Red, Space Grey and Mid-night Green. Umidigi Power 3 weighs 218g which is calculated with the battery and since we have a huge battery, I won’t say the device has too much weight because we all know that the more battery, the more weight.
We have a camera bump on the left side of the device back which houses the quad-camera and the LED flashlight, a rear fingerprint design and the logo “Umidigi” placed vertically on the left side far below the cameras, plus the device is designed to be held using one hand with a 3D back design.
Umidigi Power 3 display
Umidigi Power 3 features a 6.53 inches FHD+ display with a punch-hole and a display resolution of 2340 x 1080p which is just like what we have on devices like Huawei Y9s and others.
The display quality is not bad at all with 16M display colors and ~395 PPI, so users should get the most out of the Umidigi Power 3 when it comes to watching YouTube videos, downloaded HD+ videos and playing 3D games should be crisp.
Umidigi Power 3 screen is protected using a Gorilla glass to make the device screen free from scratch, other features include an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, a reading mode and a color temperature adjustment.
Umidigi Power 3 hardware and software
Umidigi Power 3 is equipped with an MTK Helio P60, a 64-bit Octa-core processor clocked at the speed of 2.0Ghz. The Helio P60 is actually AI-oriented so it packs good stuff in it like; low power consumption, fast processing speed unlike its predecessor, fast-charge and it offers the camera support too.
The processor is backed by a 4GB RAM with a memory speed of 1800MHz and a dual-channel LPDDR4X memory type is used which has a higher efficiency than the LPDDR3 used on the previous versions, the internal storage is 64GB which can be further expanded to 256GB using a memory card and lastly about on the hardware, Umidigi Power 3 features the ARM Mali G72 MP3 800MHz GPU which is an average but it will still get you that high graphics needed for games like Asphalt 9, pes, FIFA and other higher graphical games.
Umidigi Power 3 is running on the latest android version 10 operating system without customized UI, users get the dark-skin theme, a privacy control, security update, next android version update and an optimized Google assistant as usual.
Umidigi Power 3 camera
The L-shaped cameras of the Umidigi Power 3 are smooth one but not the best out there on a mid-range device. We have a quad-camera setup at the back; a 5MP lens for depth sensing, a Samsung SKGM1 48MP main shooter with 6-element lens and f/1.79 aperture which takes in more light to give a clear shot than an f/2.0 lens aperture, the third camera is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera lens with a Field-Of -View of 120-degree for taking most especially a group photo, and lastly capturing a close detailed shot on an Umidigi Phone is now possible with a 5MP macro lens with up to 2cm distance.
Users get a night mode that uses the Helio P60 AI processor in conjunction with the 1/2 large image sensor to brighten up the shots, and HDR, Auto-focus, portrait mode, AI scene detection, face-recognition technology, AI beautify, edge distortion correction for portrait shots and many more…To the front is a 16MP selfie camera located in the punch-hole at the left corner with f/2.0 aperture, there is a selfie countdown, a DIY beautify and an AI selfie beauty mode.
Recording a video is also great as users get to record a video on the Umidigi power 3 in 1080p and 720p@30fps and there is a digital image stabilization to make the video appear stable when on the move while shooting a video or when you have a shaky hand which, to be honest, is a big one on a mi-range device.
Umidigi Power 3 Power
Umidigi Power 3 houses a 6,150mAh Li-Poly (Lithium Polymer) Non-Removable battery with MediaTek Pump Express Plus 3.0 fast charging technology. Users get an 18W fast charger which is a good idea, unlike some other brands that will give a device a big battery without a fast charging adapter.
The device also features an AI power management powered by the P60 processor as mentioned above, and a 10W reversible fast charge technology which simply means users get to use the Umidigi Power 3 as a power bank for other phones or devices. The battery can get users up to 546hrs of standby time, 10hrs of gaming, 24hrs of, 74hrs of music-play-time, and a 14hrs of web-browsing-time.
Umidigi Power 3 Connectivity and network
Umidigi Power 3 is equipped with a Type-C USB cable, an OTG Cable for reversible charge and storage function, a Bluetooth v5.0 which consumes low power. There is no traditional headphone jack on the Umidigi Power 3 as users get to use the Type-C port as their audio output connection. The device supports dual SIM of Nano type and VoLTE (dual 4G) but the second slot is also available for memory expansion, and a multi-function NFC with Google pay support.
In the box
We have the smartphone itself which is packed with the non-removable battery, a power adapter with a Type-C USB cable, OTG cable, SIM removal tool, a warranty card and finally a user manual.
