Apple has launched a wonderfully made second-generation iPhone called the iPhone SE, now this isn’t like the older SE version of iPhone we’ve seen so far like this is on a whole new level.
The iPhone SE on a stand looks the same as the iPhone 8 if you look closely, now if you connect the dots, you will see what apple is trying to do here. If you can’t, well, here it is. Apple is known to produce premium smartphones every year starting at $799, $899 or probably over a thousand dollars for the highest version of the device that year.
And after a while, they would drop the price, how nice of them but it is still not good enough for them since the majority are using what we know as mid-range/budget smartphones like the ones we get from Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus and many more.
iPhone SE first impression
Apple released the iPhone SE which was once rumored to be the iPhone 9 days back, below is a quick impression of what the device features.
iPhone SE DESIGN
Like we indicated above, the device looks like the iPhone 8. The device features a glass and aluminum design which makes it sleek, it comes in three body colors, Red, Balck, and white. The device weighs 148g with.
And if you noticed quite well on the picture below, you will see that the apple logo has been moved to the middle to differentiate between normal iPhones and iPhone SE’s. The device is also IP67 rated meaning it can survive in water for 30min in a depth of 1 meter.
iPhone SE DISPLAY
The device comes with a 4.7-Retina HD display, which is the same as the one we have on iPhone 8. As far as the display goes, we have a 1334 x 750p resolution at 326 PPI (pixel per inch), Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and other cool features of the display. And also, the device has the same pixel density and color accuracy as the iPhone 11, so it’s a thumbs up.
iPhone SE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
iPhone SE is equipped with the A13 Bionic chip found on premium iPhones like iPhone 11, 11 Pro and Max version and it also houses a 3GB RAM. As for the software, we have the latest IOS 13 and this phone will receive up to 4 years of software updates which is a blow to android OEMs because Apple is about to take on them.
Will the battery of the iPhone SE last?
The battery life is no doubt going to be a good one with a 4.7-inch screen size on the A13 Bionic chip of an iPhone 11, definitely yes. Users get a fast charging technology, and according to the info on their apple’s website, the device will get up to 50% of battery life with just 30min charge.
It comes with an 18W adapter and it can support higher but users will have to purchase it separately. iPhone SE features a wireless charging technology that supports Qi chargers.
iPhone SE CAMERA
If you have seen the camera quality of an iPhone 8, then you will have no doubt of what the iPhone SE will produce. Technically, iPhone SE is an upgrade of the iPhone 8 but they both have the same hardware except the benefit of the new image processing, thanks to the A13 Bionic chip.
On the back is a single camera and with the iPhone 11 A13 Bionic chip, users get an advanced camera with a portrait mode on both lens of the device (selfie). Another feature users get is the depth control which allows users to control how much they want their image background to be blurred.
Will this camera be the best on a mid-range phone?
The rear camera is a 12MP wide camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 5x digital zoom, Optical image stabilization (OIS) which is great to have a mid-range phone, Panorama (up to 63MP) and many more cool features of the device.
To the front is a 7MP lens with f/2.2 aperture, Auto HDR, Auto image stabilization, Cinematic video stabilization (1080p and 720p) and so on.
My opinion: This would probably have the best camera when it comes to the mid-range devices followed by Google Pixel 3a.
Bonus features:
iPhone SE has a dual SIM Slot (nano-SIM and eSIM), apple pay, Touch ID just like we have on iPhone 7 and 8, 4G network, stereo speaker, Built‑in microphone, EarPods with Lightning Connector and many more.
iPhone SE PRICE IN NIGERIA
iPhone SE will go on sale for 150,000 Naira or more ($399). For an iPhone with some of Apples’s premium features and hardware to be on an iPhone that costs this less, it means OEMs like Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, and Huawei should be prepared for a hard head-on.
