Nokia just launched a spiffy new X71 smartphone with the on paper chops to be one of the best mid-range smartphones to arrive this year. The Nokia X71 is a super swish rival to mid-range handsets, such as the Moto G7 Plus and Xperia 10.
The handset has a beautiful mixed metal and glass design that shares one key feature with our favourite Android smartphone, the Galaxy S10. HMD Global has announced the Nokia X71 in Taiwan. The phone is the first from the Finnish OEM to feature a 48 MP camera and punch hole display.
NOKIA X71 DESIGN AND DISPLAY
Up front you’ll notice the front camera is housed in the screen. The hole punch design is a unique feature debuted on the Galaxy S10 and, while we prefer the pop-up periscope design seen on the Vivo Nex S, it definitely gives the Nokia X71 a premium look.
In the promotional images it looks every bit as swish as the company’s flagship Nokia 9 Pureview.
Nokia X71 comes with a screen size 6.39 inches IPS, FHD+ which gives a resolution of 1080 x 2246 Pixels. The dimension of the smartphone is 76.45 mm x 157.19 mm x 7.98 mm and it weighs 180 Grams (With Battery).
NOKIA X71 PERFORMANCE
Nokia X71 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa core (2.2 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 260 + 1.84 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 260) processor paired with 6 GB of RAM. Over that, as far as the rear camera is concerned this mobile has a 48MP + 5MP + 8MP camera .
The Nokia X71 features a sizable 3500mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. This could give it more juice than competing mid-range phones, like the Xperia 10 which has a dinky 2870mAh battery.
It also packs a 3.5mm headphone jack, rear fingerprint sensor, and it’s running on Android Pie. Unlike many Nokia devices, this isn’t based on the Android One program.
The device possesses other sensors like the Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Gyroscope. So, does it have a fingerprint sensor? Yes, it does.
For graphical performance that can make games run smoothly, this phone has got a Adreno 512 GPU. On board storage is at 128 GB with the option to expand the memory by Yes Up to 256 GB. Design is one of the most important factors when it comes to mobiles.
NOKIA X71 CAMERA
The Nokia X71’s cameras are probably its most interesting asset. It’s tri-camera setup also looks pretty boss. Nokia’s loaded the X71 with a 48-megapixel (f/1.8, 1.6um) main sensor, 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle and 5-megapixel depth sensor with ZEISS optics.
These specs are a step up on what you’d normally get for it’s price, though sadly without real world testing we won’t be able to confirm how good they are.
This is HMD Global’s first foray into 48MP camera territory (even the flagship Nokia 9 PureView missed out with its five 12MP camera sensors) and it means the X71 should be able to achieve some detailed shots and impressive zoom, at a slight cost to low-light performance.
NOKIA X71 PRICE
The price of Nokia X71 price in Nigeria is expected to be between 140,000 naira – 150,000 naira.
